Overview

 

Vista Aircraft Maintenance is seeking to hire a Line Service Technician to join our maintenance team at our Part 145 Repair Station in Van Nuys, CA. The Line Service Technician is a front-line position responsible for supporting all ground operations for inbound and outbound aircraft, flight crews, and passengers and maintaining aircraft appearance. This role serves as a support position to other departments, including Charter, Aircraft Maintenance, and Facilities.

The salary range for this position is $25 to $27+ per hour.

 

Line Service Technicians handle fuels, flammable substances, and other hazardous materials. Due to the nature of the work, strict adherence to safety procedures is essential. The airport ramp is a high-noise environment, requiring the use of appropriate hearing protection. Operating vehicles and maneuvering aircraft near people, buildings, and other aircraft demands heightened awareness and caution. All procedures must be followed to ensure personal safety, the safety of others, and the protection of company and customer property.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Marshall and wing-walk aircraft
  • Tow aircraft (upon successful completion of training)
  • Off-campus tow training
  • Marshall training
  • Ramp training and planning
  • ASMP training (Technicians only)

 

Aircraft Servicing

  • Service aircraft lavatories and potable water systems
  • De-fuel and fuel aircraft in accordance with ATA Specification 103
  • Load and unload baggage
  • Clean and detail aircraft interiors and exteriors

 

Ramp Operations

  • Perform daily ramp checks to ensure aircraft are chocked, locked, and secure
  • Complete scheduled checklists, audits, and inspections as assigned
  • Assist pilots with pre-flight and post-flight services
  • Operate, inspect, and perform general maintenance on ground support equipment

 

General Support

  • Assist other departments as needed, including facility cleaning and miscellaneous tasks
  • Provide basic security for personnel and property
  • Direct individuals, drivers, and flight crews within the ramp area
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

 

 Required Experience, Qualifications, and Education: 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills in the English language
  • Pass pre-employment Drug and Alcohol testing, background checks and submit to random testing when required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, direct interface, over telephone, email and in writing
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks including but not limited to: facility cleaning, vehicle washing, aircraft cleaning and vacuuming
  • Must be comfortable with working outdoors, day, night and in all weather conditions

 

Physical Requirements

  • Stepping up/down on ladders, tugs and fuel trucks, scissor lifts
  • Lifting baggage from ground level to waist and overhead while loading aircraft, up to 75 pounds
  • Bending and stooping to pick up tow bars and other equipment, up to 75 pounds
  • Bending below wings to chock aircraft
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time, running when required
  • Good hand-eye coordination with good peripheral vision
